Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease is swelling, soreness or infection of the tissues supporting the teeth. There are two main forms of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontal disease.

The most common symptoms of gingivitis and periodontal disease include bad breath, sensitive teeth, loose teeth, bleeding gums, and receding gums.

The cause of these is a build-up of plaque or tartar which damages the teeth and gums. Gum disease may result in bone loss, the formation of cavities and eventual tooth loss.

Most people suffer from some form of gum disease – however, early diagnosis means it can be treated swiftly so do visit your dental team regularly for a thorough check-up of your teeth and gums.
